P.MADHAVAN THAMPY

Founder the Late Shri. P Madhavan Thampy, a Great visionary and illustrious son of erstwhile State of Travancore, Kerala. His contribution to the industrial and social upliftment of the state of Kerala during and post independence period were unique and praise worthy. Considering his contributions to the industrial sector, Government had nominated him to the Board of Directors of various public limited ventures. As the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the Kerala State Small Scale Industries Association and Member of the Small Industries Development and Employment Corporation. His involvement in the social sector as the President of the Ayyapa Seva Sangam and Taluk Union President of the NSS were highly commendable. In recognition of his services Government of India had conferred him the Udyog Patra Award in the year 1978.

Mr.Thampy started his career in a small foundry by manufacturing a few metal utensils for household use with a view to bringing down the cost of utensils to the minimum without affecting the quality. He established 'Komala Vilasam Metal Industries’ in 1951,followed by Kumari Metal Industries in 1959,Sree Ambika Rolling Mills in 1961 and Sree Ambika Rolling Shutters in 1975. A man of sound practical knowledge, he had developed an Aluminum alloy which can resist corrosion later known as 'Thampy's Alloy Metal'

Among the major works he had undertaken , the following still remains as milestones

2.Statue of former Chief minister and Governor Sri. Patton .A.Thanupillaii

3.Momentous for State Film Awards

4.Govt contracts for CARE and Travancore Devasom Board


Though Mr.Thampy had left for his heavenly abode his second and third generation are keeping high the principles and ideals, which he had followed, and the continuing business traditions stand testimony to it.
